Deadline: 22-Aug-2025
The AWiDH 2025 Mentoring Program invites African women working in digital health who aim to strengthen their leadership in policy, decision-making, and health systems transformation. As Africa faces an increasing need for rapid, context-specific responses to diseases, digital health offers crucial solutions, with many start-ups led by women. However, these women often face barriers such as limited access to finance, exclusion from networks, and minimal venture capital support. The program seeks to bridge these gaps by enhancing business skills, expanding networks, and fostering leadership growth.
Through personalized mentorship, participants receive guidance to grow their start-ups, refine pitching abilities, improve communication, and build confidence, while joining a supportive community for collaboration and networking. Mentees learn from experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders, gaining practical knowledge to advance their ventures.
A key highlight is the Silicon Savannah Retreat, held from October 24–26, 2024, at Sarova Whitesands in Mombasa, Kenya. The retreat offers immersive sessions on product development, pitch creation, investment readiness, leadership, and intellectual property protection. Participants also engage in one-on-one mentoring, personal branding, and networking activities, strengthening their professional connections.
The program incorporates wellness walks along the beach to promote mental health and reflection, balancing professional development with personal well-being. It concludes with a certification ceremony celebrating the achievements of mentees and reinforcing a strong sense of community. By addressing the underrepresentation of women leaders in digital health, the program empowers participants to deliver innovative healthcare solutions that support sustainable development across Africa.
