Deadline: 06-Oct-2025
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has opened a compelling opportunity aimed at transforming health and sustainability in the Mekong region.
This call for proposals invites organizations to strengthen grassroots capabilities and regional collaboration across Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. Through a One Health lens, the program addresses critical issues like disease prevention, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and environmental health, fostering integrated long-term resilience.
Participating organizations are expected to map current risks and institutional responses, create inclusive local platforms with multiple stakeholders, and pilot innovative community-led efforts that tackle these pressing challenges. The initiative also calls for capacity building through targeted training and extension services, the generation and sharing of insights through knowledge products, and the facilitation of South–South learning exchanges between countries in the region.
A key focus of the program is ensuring wide inclusion, prioritizing strong participation from women, youth, and marginalized groups. At the same time, the grant is designed to support a strategic future by developing an investment framework that can guide IFAD and partners in scaling effective community-based approaches, ensuring that successful initiatives are not just temporary interventions but lasting models for One Health in the region.
The program has a duration of two years, covering 24 months of implementation. IFAD is committing USD 1 million in funding, with a requirement for co-financing of at least 20 percent from non-private actors and 25 percent from private actors in either cash or in-kind contributions. Project management costs can account for a maximum of 20 percent of the total grant amount, with management fees capped at 8 percent.
Interested applicants must submit a complete proposal package in English—comprising a concept note, activity-based budgeting, eligibility self-certification, a non-disclosure agreement, and an institutional profile demonstrating relevant experience. Queries about the proposal process can be submitted up until 26 September 2025.
Through LIVECOM, IFAD is championing an approach that interlinks human, animal, and environmental well-being. This program offers a unique opportunity for locally rooted organizations to align innovative strategies with global health and sustainability challenges, empowering communities across the Mekong to shape healthier, more sustainable futures.
