Deadline: 19-Nov-2025
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council invites emerging artists to submit proposals for the creation of new work to be performed in public spaces in the County.
The focus areas, objectives, priorities, and themes include exploring how Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown might evolve in the future through creative, bold, and imaginative performance ideas that address climate change, technology, and social shifts, engage diverse audiences, and consider feasibility, accessibility, and environmental impact, with public performances taking place in June 2026 across various County locations.
Each project’s €10,000 budget must cover artist fees, collaborator payments, production costs, travel, insurance, and contingency. A minimum of 20% of the total budget is recommended for staging the performance, and 5% should be reserved for unexpected expenses. Limited production support and access to the Studio Theatre at dlr LexIcon may also be available during development, depending on scheduling.
Projects should be original, ambitious, and suitable for public audiences of all ages. The performances must be presented live in June 2026, in accessible public spaces within Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Artists should carefully consider the feasibility of their proposals, including location logistics, permissions, health and safety, and audience accessibility.
Eligible applicants include professional artists or teams of two or more creatives working across any of the following artforms: dance, theatre, circus and spectacle, street arts, puppetry, opera, music, performance art, or collaborations combining these forms. Selected artists must be emerging practitioners with a connection to the County, either by residence, work, study, or origin.
The selection process will be highly competitive, with applications evaluated on the overall creativity and quality of the idea, the feasibility of the proposal, and the applicant’s previous experience. From these, the top five proposals will be awarded commissions.
Applications must include details about the project idea, team members, timeline from January to June 2026, detailed budget, examples of past work, CVs, and up to two letters of recommendation.
The deadline for submission is 19 November 2025.
