Deadline: 18-Aug-2025
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has launched a two-year Climate Resilient WASH and Nutrition Programme to strengthen child health and community resilience in Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, with implementation beginning in September 2025.
Focus: Health – general. WASH and Environment: Hygiene, Water and land information management.
The programme responds to the growing threats of climate change, environmental degradation, and natural hazards that disproportionately impact children and their communities across the North Pacific. The initiative targets key determinants of child health—water, sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition—through integrated interventions tailored to each country’s needs.
In Palau, the programme focuses on improving water safety and hygiene through the development and implementation of Drinking Water Safety training in schools and communities. It also supports healthier child diets through training for caregivers, school gardening, and nutrition monitoring.
In the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands, the programme aims to strengthen drought preparedness and water security by piloting climate-resilient WASH technologies and installing remote water monitoring systems in vulnerable communities.
The initiative emphasizes community-led solutions and capacity building, engaging teachers, caregivers, youth, and local leaders in practical skills such as water conservation, hygiene promotion, and sustainable food practices. UNICEF seeks to collaborate with experienced non-profits, NGOs, academic institutions, and community organizations capable of implementing education, WASH, and nutrition programmes within the region.
Applications are open until August 18, 2025, with results to be announced by August 20. The programme will run through September 2027.
