Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Nairobi Office has announced a Call for Proposals under the emergency initiative “Response to the Climate and Humanitarian Emergency in Kenya” with a total allocation of €3,500,000.
The focus areas are Water, Hygiene, Environment, Land, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change; Agriculture and Food Security; Health; Protection (refugees, displaced persons, minorities, migrants, others); Disaster Risk Reduction.
This initiative is designed to support humanitarian interventions targeting the most vulnerable populations in Kenya who are severely affected by climate shocks such as droughts and floods. The goal is to improve resilience through projects that provide access to clean water and sanitation, enhance agricultural productivity and food security, strengthen public health services, protect displaced and marginalized groups, and implement disaster risk reduction strategies.
Projects may have a maximum duration of 21 months, and the funding requested from AICS must not exceed €875,000. This ceiling applies both to projects submitted by a single nonprofit organization and to joint projects submitted by two or more organizations under a Temporary Association of Purpose (ATS).
The program is aligned with Kenya’s national development and humanitarian strategies, including Vision 2030, the National Disaster Risk Management Strategy, and the Kenya Anticipatory Action Roadmap. At the same time, it reflects Italy’s international cooperation priorities and its commitments to global humanitarian principles.
Eligible nonprofit organizations are invited to submit proposals that demonstrate clear objectives, effective implementation strategies, and measurable outcomes. Proposals should strengthen community resilience, support inclusive development, and address the specific needs of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children who face disproportionate risks from climate change.
