Deadline: 13-Aug-2025
The World Food Programme is inviting grant applications for the implementation of an Integrated Nutrition Programme, including Anticipatory Action and Early Action Response in the Karamoja region. This initiative aims to address acute malnutrition based on national and WHO guidelines, while also enhancing long-term nutrition outcomes and health through capacity building at both national and sub-national levels.
The programme focuses on improving food security through cash assistance, food aid, early warning systems, and livelihood support such as community mobilization. Nutrition interventions will center on preventing and treating malnutrition and addressing micronutrient deficiencies.
WFP plans to increase access to safe, diverse, and nutritious foods by expanding nutrition-sensitive livelihood programs. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under two will receive NutriCash support during the critical first 1,000 days of life.
Efforts will also be made to prevent stunting, improve WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), and promote optimal infant and young child feeding practices through targeted social behavior change communication. Strengthening collaboration among political leaders, partners, and communities is a key priority, alongside building the capacity of local institutions.
The programme will use cash-based transfers to help vulnerable households meet essential needs before droughts strike. It will also support the repair of water facilities, distribute early maturing seed varieties for timely planting, and share weather and climate updates to help communities prepare and respond effectively.
This intervention targets northern Uganda, specifically the Karamoja region.
