Deadline: 12-Dec-2025
The Paris Agreement, France has launched a new edition of the MOPGA program to strengthen scientific contributions to the issues addressed at the Conferences of the Parties (COP).
The eligible research themes include Earth system sciences, Climate change sciences and sustainability science, Energy transition, Societal challenges related to environmental issues, and Human, animal, and environmental health as defined within the One Health approach. Innovative approaches promoting advanced technologies will be favored during the selection. Only projects adopting an integrated One Health approach, considering the interactions between human health, animal health, and ecosystems, are eligible.
The fellowship is awarded for a period of 12 months and provides each researcher with a monthly allowance of €2,500, a one-time installation grant of €500, and comprehensive health coverage. The fellowship is part of the Research Stay Scheme under the French Research Programming Law 2021–2030, granting laureates the status of French Government Scholarship holders.
Host institutions in France are required to provide a supportive scientific environment but do not receive direct funding, as the fellowship is solely intended to cover the living expenses of the visiting researcher.
Applicants must not hold French citizenship, should hold a doctoral degree for less than five years (between December 2020 and December 2025), and must not have resided in France for more than 90 days between September 12, 2025, and December 12, 2025.
Applications must include a detailed research proposal, CV, PhD diploma or completion certificate, the CV and letter of support from the French host laboratory, up to three letters of recommendation, and proof of identity. All documents must be submitted in PDF format, with strict size limitations.
The application process will take place in two phases: evaluation by scientific experts in relevant fields followed by a final decision by a scientific selection committee. Selected researchers will begin their fellowship in France between September and December 2026.
Applications close on December 12, 2025, with results expected in May or June 2026.
