Deadline: 09-Sep-2025
Arts Council Malta is inviting proposals for projects under its Arts Support Scheme, aiming to support initiatives that promote cultural rights and well-being. The call is open to artists, cultural practitioners, and communities seeking to realise the values of culture and health through creative expression.
The scheme places a strong focus on cultural rights, aligned with the Arts Council Malta Strategy 2025. It encourages people to engage with the arts, explore diverse narratives, and express themselves creatively. It also promotes the role of culture in improving well-being, fostering community belonging, and supporting inclusive development.
Through this initiative, the council seeks to fund projects that increase access to culture for marginalised communities, connect cultural engagement to health and education outcomes, promote diversity, and strengthen the presence of arts in public and care contexts. The program encourages collaboration across sectors to support social and cultural development.
Applicants may focus on artistic practice and research, including the creation and programming of high-quality work, or on documenting Malta’s cultural legacy. Another eligible focus is community and audience engagement that brings meaningful cultural experiences to the public.
The total session budget is EUR 200,000, with a maximum of EUR 30,000 available per project. Eligible projects must take place between 29th October 2025 and 29th April 2027. Fundable costs include artistic fees, project management, digitalisation, production, marketing, travel, and other expenses directly tied to project execution.
Certain costs are not eligible, including retroactive costs, reimbursed salaries, hospitality, recoverable VAT, and expenses already covered by public funding. Aid intensity must not exceed 80% of the total project cost.
Eligible applicants include individual creative professionals, registered entities, voluntary organisations, groups, cooperatives, and consortia. These applicants should aim to boost artistic development, experimentation, and community engagement while reaching new audiences.
Applicants are not eligible if they already receive public funds through government line-votes, have incomplete profiles lacking necessary identification or documentation, or have failed to meet previous funding obligations. Additionally, organisations not enrolled or compliant with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations, or those with grants from the scheme’s first call, cannot apply for the second round.
