The High Sheriff Youth Awards Scheme, managed by County Durham Community Foundation, makes annual awards in recognition of groups in the community who encourage useful and beneficial pursuits for local young people.
The scheme is supported by Sir James Knott Trust, and the current High Sheriff, Mr Robert Harle of Durham.
Themes
In 2022 the awards will focus on youth groups who work on two particular themes:
- Youth groups who work with people affected by mental health issues and young offenders to help turn their lives around
- Youth groups who work with young people supporting them to be upstanding citizens and deterred from criminal activities

Award Amount: up to £2,500
Who are the awards for?
- Awards are made to voluntary and community groups and registered charities based and working in County Durham, Darlington, Hartlepool, and Stockton.
- Groups who received an award in 2021 are not eligible for a nomination in 2022.
