Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
The James Frizelle Charitable Foundation Grants Program provides funding support to not-for-profit organisations that are Item 1 Deductible Gift Recipients (DGRs) in Australia.
The priority areas of the program include Community Health, Disadvantaged, Domestic Violence, Homelessness, Housing & Accommodation and Mental Health. Grants may also be considered for Natural Disasters where they align with the mission of the foundation.
The James Frizelle Charitable Foundation was established in 2019 with the goal of supporting people who, through no fault of their own, have fallen on difficult times and are often overlooked by other funding sources. The foundation partners with eligible charities that possess the expertise and resources to deliver meaningful assistance but require financial support to do so.
There is no upper threshold for funding, and applicants are encouraged to apply for the amount required to implement their projects. Previous grants have ranged between $2,000 and $100,000 per annum. Projects must be community-led and deliver clear benefits to local communities in Gold Coast, Outback Queensland, Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, and Lismore. Locations outside these local government areas may also be considered if they meet program priorities and excess funding is available.
The types of projects that can be funded include the delivery of activities, programs, and services; health care for those not adequately covered by the private or public system; support for disadvantaged groups such as the aged, infirm, or those facing physical or mental disability; food services for families in need; animal-assisted programs that foster independence and well-being; digital inclusion initiatives; volunteer development and support; and services addressing domestic and family violence, elder abuse, or community awareness campaigns. Temporary accommodation and services that restore dignity to the elderly and frail are also eligible.
However, there are restrictions on what cannot be funded. These include applications from individuals, private or commercial businesses, overseas aid, retrospective funding, medical research, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, political or religious promotion, general fundraising appeals, sporting events, and projects that exclude people without valid justification. Travel and accommodation expenses are only supported if directly tied to service delivery.
