The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Osaka Headquarters has partnered with Australia-based MedTech Actuator to form a partnership with the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a public interest incorporated foundation Together with the Osaka Industrial Bureau, are launching MedTech Actuator Origin Program which aimed at business development of startups in the Asia-Pacific region.
Details
- The program will consist of three parts:
- First, over three days in Osaka, ~20 Japanese MedTech, BioTech and HealthTech entrepreneurs will join MedTech Actuator, JETRO, OCCI, OBDA and industry experts to learn how to transform their ideas into an early-stage startup.
- Next, 3 qualifying teams from Japan will join MedTech Actuator in Melbourne for an intensive sprint, where, over five days, they’ll learn from industry experts, pressure test their innovations, and network with and pitch to Australia’s startup ecosystem.
- Finally, one Japanese startup will be selected to return to Australia to pitch at the MedTech Actuator Showcase – an industry event, attended by over 300 experts in BioMed innovation, on December 1. At this event, startups will compete for a chance to win one of the cash prizes and in-kind support to accelerate the commercialisation of the idea.
Criteria
- A Japanese start-up company, entrepreneur, researcher, or student who is located in Japan and has global business in mind thing.
- In principle, have technology, products, and services (including ideas and prototypes) for overseas expansion.
- Ability to communicate in English when participating in the program.
- Have a high interest in the program content and a high desire to participate.
- Agree to the Terms of Use/Disclaimer/Confidentiality/Handling of Personal Information, Cancellation Policy and Points to Note.
- Must be able to participate in all program schedules (all participants: once in Osaka, selected participants: once or twice in Australia).
- Persons who have authority over the decision-making of the company, such as executives, entrepreneurs, and researchers themselves, must be able to participate and travel locally.
- Satisfy the requirements for overseas travel, such as vaccinations.
- As of July 20, 2022, the vaccination requirement for entering Australia has been abolished due to the relaxation of requirements.
- However, the situation is fluid, so be sure to check the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies, etc., and promptly respond to confirmation from the organizer.
- Respond to a questionnaire conducted by the organizer to understand the project results, and be able to cooperate in disseminating the project results (seminars, etc.).
