The Lowitja Institute is accepting applications for its GLOWS Scholarship Program to support students wanting to develop their skills and knowledge on how to increase health equity and address disparities driving transmission of HIV and viral hepatitis within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The focus areas, objectives, priorities, and themes include offering supplementary financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students undertaking studies towards their entry into the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research workforce.
The Undergraduate Public Health Scholarship stream offers funding of up to $25,000, which covers course and student amenities fees for one year of full-time study. This scholarship is aimed at undergraduate students pursuing studies that will prepare them to contribute meaningfully to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research.
Similarly, the Postgraduate Public Health Scholarship stream also provides up to $25,000 in funding for one year of full-time study, covering course and student amenities fees. This scholarship is designed for students who wish to further develop their expertise in increasing health equity and addressing health disparities within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
These scholarships not only offer financial support but also encourage students to engage in meaningful public health work that can have a lasting impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through these programs, students can build their research skills, contribute to health equity initiatives, and prepare for careers in public health that directly address the challenges faced by these communities.
