Applications are now invited for Oxfam Canada Summit and Day of Action Programme.
A multi-day online interactive and intensive training. The Oxfam Summit gathers activists, community leaders and passionate individuals from across Canada for two and a half days packed full of workshops, inspiring speakers, and break out sessions. Participants will leave inspired, connected, knowledgeable, and equipped with skills to advocate for positive change.
The Oxfam Canada Summit and Day of Action will take place on March 11-13, 2022 at an online virtual event space with different workshop rooms and spaces for participant conversation and networking. The Zoom platform will be used to facilitate the space.
Themes
The Summit and Day of Action will focus on a range of human rights and social justice issues such as economic justice, women’s rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate change and natural resources, and gender in emergencies.
What will you learn?
- Use your power to lift up communities: by learning and practicing key advocacy tools, developing knowledge from the training provided by topic experts and discovering new ways to help create a just world without poverty and inequality
- Strengthen the ropes of solidarity across social movements by sharing knowledge, building ties with other activists from all across the country and gaining important skills together
- Build the capacity to inspire advance your engagement and ability to increase your influence on issues of poverty, gender justice and inequality
- Renew your advocacy skills and knowledge on feminist policymaking approaches from topic experts. Including Diana Sarosi, one of Hill Times 2019 Top 100 Lobbyists and Influential players.
- Build your knowledge and skills on social justice and poverty issues directly related to Oxfam Canada’s mission, such as women’s economic justice, ending violence against women and girls, sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate change and natural resources, women’s transformative justice, and gender in emergencies
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently living in Canada.
- If you’re a community activist, leader or person who is passionate about ending the injustice of poverty and standing up for women’s rights, and seeking more ways to deepen your skills, you should absolutely apply.
- They value and encourage diversity and welcome applications from traditionally underrepresented groups (for example, women, visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, non-heteronormative identities, or people with disabilities).
