Deadline: 29-Sep-2025
Pfizer and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) are offering a grant opportunity for quality improvement initiatives aimed at promoting the safe management of patients diagnosed with migraine in emergency departments. The program seeks proposals that focus on clinical program development to address barriers to safe, evidence-based management, disposition, and follow-up of migraine patients. Funded projects should present outcome measures that demonstrate improved patient care, safety, and satisfaction, along with enhanced physician experience.
Applicants are encouraged to identify and address gaps in migraine management within emergency departments. This may include improving patient experiences, testing novel approaches to acute migraine treatment, and ensuring timely follow-up with primary care providers. Priority areas include reducing costs, decreasing length of stay, minimizing return visits, improving pain control, and reducing unnecessary testing. Multi-disciplinary collaborations are encouraged, provided all partners have a relevant role. Projects should be evidence-based and follow accepted scientific principles, with emphasis on those that can directly impact patient care.
Projects that involve system-based changes will be given high priority, although educational components for grantees and patients are also welcome. Funding of up to USD 200,000 per project is available, with support intended for three to four initiatives lasting a maximum of two years. The target audience is emergency physicians treating adult migraine patients in the United States.
Eligible applicants include medical, dental, nursing, allied health, and pharmacy schools; healthcare institutions; professional organizations; government agencies; and other healthcare-related entities. Only organizations—not individuals or independent medical practice groups—can apply. Collaborations within and between institutions are encouraged, with the requesting organization playing a key role in the project. The project lead must be employed or contracted by the applicant organization, which must also be legally able to receive direct funding from Pfizer Inc.
