Deadline: 12-Sep-21
The Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) is inviting applications for Report on Labor Exploitation during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
TRF’s world-class trainers, who are seasoned international and regional journalists, will facilitate interactive online sessions and invite diverse legal experts, policy makers and anti-trafficking advocates to explain the scale and causes of debt bondage, forced labor, and global standards and instruments that try to combat the problem.
Participants will learn to enrich their reporting using digital storytelling techniques, as well as to apply a solutions journalism approach focused on information critical of modern-day slavery initiatives, in order to increase audience engagement.
Participants will also review the ethics and risks of reporting on slavery, from sensitive interaction with trauma survivors to highlighting labor issues in large corporate supply chains or information on organized crime.
Workshop Format
- A series of live interactive sessions will be carried out through Zoom and will take place in five half days during the week of September 27 so that journalists can combine learning with their reporting obligations.

- Participants must be able to commit to spending four hours on each live session, plus 1-2 hours of reading or offline assignments done on their own time on those days or between sessions.
