Deadline: 13-Aug-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) is inviting grant applications for the implementation of general food assistance, nutrition, digital and financial inclusion, resilience, and self-reliance in the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement and hosting district.
This initiative supports two main pillars of the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework: Emergency Response and Ongoing Needs, and Resilience and Self-Reliance. The objective is to ensure that refugees, host communities, and other crisis-affected populations have consistent access to adequate, nutritious food, while helping them gradually build resilience and become self-reliant.
WFP collaborates with Cooperating Partners (CPs) to address the needs of more than one million refugees and host community members in Uganda. These partners help deliver food, nutrition, and financial services in a safe, cost-effective, and accountable manner.
Key sectors of intervention include food security through cash or in-kind food assistance and livelihood programs. These include community mobilization, microfinance services, and activities that promote self-reliance. Nutrition services focus on preventing and treating malnutrition and providing essential micronutrients. Protection services are also included.
The expected outcomes include improved food and nutrition access for food-insecure refugees and host communities, along with behavior change communications and complementary support programs. Vulnerable groups such as young children and pregnant or breastfeeding women will receive targeted nutrition support.
The program also aims to strengthen the capacity of government institutions and stakeholders to deliver well-targeted assistance, enhancing resource use and focusing aid on high-risk households. Refugees and host communities will benefit from capacity building, productive assets, and integrated interventions to diversify livelihoods and improve food and nutrition outcomes.
Other objectives include promoting social empowerment, mindset shifts, increased agricultural production and income through climate-smart practices, and the digitization of Village Savings & Loan Associations (VSLAs), linking them to formal financial institutions.
This program will be implemented in the western region of Uganda.
