Deadline: 31-Aug-2025
Astellas is inviting proposals for collaborative projects that aim to remove barriers to healthcare and strengthen healthcare systems. Through its Access to Health donation program, Astellas supports action-based initiatives that focus on underserved populations in countries where the company operates. They seek to fund programs that align with their sustainability goals and bring positive societal impact.
Healthcare System Strengthening efforts may involve improving medical infrastructure, enhancing health screening and diagnosis, or increasing access to necessary care. Astellas is particularly interested in initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in health outcomes.
Organizations selected for funding are expected to work closely with Astellas throughout the project. This includes providing quarterly progress updates, participating in launch communications, and collaborating to share impactful stories with communities, media, and stakeholders. Cross-promotion through social media and sharing of photos to highlight the program’s success is also encouraged.
Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt organizations under national laws, such as a 501(c)(3) in the U.S. or equivalent elsewhere. They must have a proven track record of meeting objectives, the ability to measure outcomes, and work effectively with local implementation partners.
Astellas does not fund patient financial aid programs, capital equipment requests, sponsorships, fundraisers, product donations, political or lobbying activities, or religious groups for religious purposes. Funding is also not available for individuals, medical fellowships, private foundations, or any projects already completed.
Proposals should address health disparities among marginalized populations and focus on timely diagnosis and connection to quality care. Priority is given to programs in Astellas therapeutic areas, especially oncology—such as gastric or bladder cancer—and must operate in countries where Astellas is present. Preferred locations include Australia, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan.
Programs should build on successful existing efforts, be community-based, and foster local ownership. Funding is available for projects lasting one year, up to a maximum of USD 250,000, with administrative costs capped at 15%. The requested funding must be less than 25% of the organization’s total revenue in the past year. Proposals must not be linked to promoting or recommending Astellas products and should create opportunities for Astellas employee engagement at both the local and global levels.
