Deadline: 26-Aug-2025
The Forte has announced Person-Centred and Integrated Care Grants to support research on person-centred and integrated care aimed at contributing to the ongoing transformation of Swedish health and social care.
The focus of the call is to contribute to the transformation of Swedish health and social care, with a focus on moving care from hospitals to primary or home-based care, better coordination of care between regions, municipalities and authorities, organisation, governance and management, new ways of working, technological development and competence needs. This may also include aspects such as patient and relative involvement, digitalisation, welfare technology and issues concerning equality and accessibility.
This call offers funding for projects lasting three or four years, with a total budget of approximately SEK 75 million. Applicants are encouraged to apply for SEK 5 million for a three-year project or SEK 6.5 million for a four-year project. The main applicant must hold a doctoral degree by the closing date and may submit only one application as the main applicant. Participation as a co-applicant in other applications is permitted. All participating researchers must also hold a doctoral degree, while other participants without such qualifications may also be included.
The call emphasises that the research should be action-oriented and designed to support implementation of reforms in the field. Projects should demonstrate clear collaboration with relevant healthcare stakeholders and must fall within the defined focus areas of the call. Clinical medical trials or biomedical/preclinical research are not eligible for funding.
Applications must be submitted through Forte’s Prisma application system, and applicants must ensure their CV and publication lists are up to date in the system. The administrating organisation must also be approved in Prisma. The assessment criteria include alignment with Forte’s areas and the focus of the call, consideration of sex and gender perspectives where applicable, and conducting research ethically with appropriate handling of any ethical issues. Scientific quality is assessed based on the clarity of the purpose, research questions, theoretical framework, study design, methods, originality, and the relevance of any multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary approach. Societal relevance and utilisation are evaluated in terms of the importance of the research to societal challenges, its potential short- and long-term benefits, collaboration with affected stakeholders, and the appropriateness of communication plans. Feasibility is judged by the clarity of the work plan, the competence of the research team, and the reasonableness of the budget and staffing.
The call opens on 27 May 2025, with the deadline for submissions on 26 August 2025. Decisions will be announced in November 2025, and funded projects are expected to start on 1 December 2025.
