Deadline: 05-Sep-2025
The Networking HIV and AIDS Community of Southern Africa has issued a compelling call for non-profit organisations deeply rooted in their districts to step forward as Sub‑Recipients for the My Journey Adolescent and Young People Programme.
This role goes beyond mere participation—it offers a vital opportunity to drive performance-based, transformative health services for adolescents aged 15 to 24, backed by the Global Fund. The organisation will manage the grant itself, while selected Sub‑Recipients will bring the programme to life on the ground
The initiative is expansive and ambitious, spanning 19 sub‑districts across 11 districts and eight provinces of South Africa. It aims to reach nearly 385,000 adolescent girls and young women during the grant cycle from October 2025 through March 2028. This scale positions the programme as a pivotal moment for expanding youth‑focused healthcare.
The responsibilities entrusted to Sub‑Recipients are significant and varied. They must not only implement the programme as stipulated by NACOSA, but also meet defined performance targets, manage human resources, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and engage in meaningful collaboration with local stakeholders. All of this requires robust systems for programme delivery, financial accountability, and governance.
To qualify, organisations must meet stringent criteria: legal recognition as a non‑profit entity, at least three years of audited financial history, sound leadership and governance, anti-fraud protocols, and a skilled workforce in programme implementation, evaluation, and procurement. Practical experience with youth programming—especially in biomedical interventions, gender‑based violence prevention, or human rights work—is essential, ideally demonstrated within the target sub‑districts.
Prior to that, there is a virtual briefing session on 26 August 2025, which—while optional—offers a valuable opportunity to clarify expectations, deepen understanding of the programme, and engage with NACOSA directly. The cutoff for submitting questions is 3 September 2025, ensuring all individuals asking are treated equally and responses are shared transparently with all interested parties.
In essence, this RFA invites capable and committed organisations to become trusted implementers of a life‑changing initiative. It offers a chance to deliver critical sexual and reproductive health services, strengthen systems, and empower young people across South Africa. Organisations that are mission-led, experienced, and operationally sound have before them a significant opportunity to contribute to a programme with national reach and lasting impact.
