UNOPS is accepting applications to Strengthen the Activities of the National Malaria Elimination Programmes in the Cross-Border Areas of South East Asia (SEA) Countries to accelerate malaria elimination.
The RBM Partnership to End Malaria is the global platform for coordinated action against malaria. It mobilizes for action and resources and forges consensus among partners. The Partnership is comprised of more than 500 partners, including malaria endemic countries, their bilateral and multilateral development partners, the private sector, nongovernmental and community-based organizations, foundations, and research and academic institutions.
The RBM structure consists of its Secretariat and Partner Committees focused on the three priorities of the Partnership: Advocacy & Resource Mobilization (ARMPC), Strategic Communications (SCPC) and Country/Regional Support (CRSPC). Most notably, the purpose of the CRSPC is to provide a platform to engage the RBM Partnership community in coordinating support to countries and regions as they execute their malaria control and elimination implementation programs.
Objectives
- Provide support to the countries in SEA to coordinate malaria elimination activities in the cross-border areas and at sub-national level.
- Convene and coordinate partners to broker and mobilize support for SEA countries in malaria elimination.
- Support sub-regional resource mobilization efforts to sustain malaria elimination in SEA.
- Document the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Malaria Elimination Programmes.
Key Deliverables
- Effective ways to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 Pandemic identified after assessment.
- Malaria elimination acceleration plan developed.
- Coordination, regular M&E and periodic visits to the border district and cross border areas conducted.
- Advocacy activities by Parliamentarians and regular meetings with partners conducted.
- Resource mobilization strategy developed, and meetings conducted annually at regional and country level both for domestic and external resources.
Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstrated existing engagement with the countries in SE Asia in coordination and support in cross-border malaria elimination efforts including during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Proven experience of regional coordination role in South East Asia
- Strong engagement with the Global Fund country coordinating mechanisms at country level and the Global Fund SE Asia constituency
- Demonstrated track record of working collaboratively with regional partners including the RBM partnership
- Located within a SEA constituency country (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Timor-Leste)
