The WayAhead is excited to invite you to submit an art work for this year’s Mental Health Month poster! Based around the theme “Tune In” they are looking for artworks that represent how we can tune in to connection, community, allyship, and resilience.
Categories
There are two categories: Adults (over 18) with lived experience of mental distress, mental ill-health, or as a carer of someone with mental ill-health or distress; and (under-18).
Benefits
- There will be one winner from each category, and winners will receive $500, and their poster will be printed and distributed to organisations and businesses across NSW for Mental Health Month!
- All entries will be featured in an online gallery.
What do you need to include?
- Artists should consider accessibility and inclusivity of their submission, including colour contrast, visual focus, and appropriate use of icons and imagery.
- You can use any medium that can be reproduced digitally, including, but not limited to, painting, collage, digital artwork, drawing. Please note that photographs must not include people’s faces.
- You do not need to include any text – this is something they will add later, though they will consult you regarding position and size of text.
Essential Information
- Lived experience includes anyone who identifies as having lived experience of mental ill- health and/or distress, this can include people with diagnosed mental health conditions, people who have experienced trauma, and people who experience social impacts and/or oppressions that cause distress.
- There is no “proof” of lived experience required – their aim is to make space to elevate the voices and work of people with lived experience.
- Winners will be decided by a panel that includes people with lived experience, people who work in mental health promotion, and artists.
