UNESCO Dar es Salaam is implementing a UN Joint project on ‘Empowering adolescent girls and young women through education in Tanzania’, and intends to support development of a model for leveraging ICT and other Mobile Technologies and Information Platform to provide Sexual and Reproductive Health Information to in and out of school youth teenage mothers and young mothers.
The initiative aim to provide quality Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) information for young people to be able to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancy, HIV and sexually transmitted infections, to promote values of tolerance, mutual respect and non-violence in relationships, and to support a safe transition into adulthood. More so, to promote community support and enhancing behavioral change education with the communities, improve knowledge and self-esteem, change attitudes, and building self-efficacy.
Overall Objective
The main objective of the activity is to support the development of a model for leveraging ICT and other mobile technologies and information platforms to provide sexual and reproductive health information. To achieve the above objective, the following activities will be implemented:
- Design, develop, test and commission the ICT and other mobile technologies and information platform to provide sexual and reproductive health information.
- Prepare and write draft messages for IEC materials, including comic posters, Leaflets, brochures and fliers.
- Engage line ministries from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar to review and approve the information platform and IEC materials/ messages.
- Disseminate the IEC materials to youth and the community at large by;
- Uploading in the social media apps and text messages
- Raising awareness on SRHE related issues using the approved materials.
Deliverables
- Inception report including a detailed budget for the assignment and a work plan.
- Approved messages and IEC materials from the relevant ministries in Mainland and Zanzibar
- A model of ICT based SRH information platform
- Bi monthly reports
- Final result oriented narrative report and financial Report.
Time frame
The initiative will be for 8 months including monitoring and reporting.
Geographical Scope
The initiative will be implemented in 4 target districts of Kasulu, Ngorongoro, Sengerema and Mkoani Districts
Management and Reporting
The implementing organizations will facilitate the overall coordination and delivery of all activities, as per the deliverables in section 3 above, in collaboration with line ministries, district authorities in Kasulu, Sengerema, Mkoani and Ngorongoro, and UNESCO.
Criteria
- Solid understanding of the local context in education, life skills and gender policy settings as well as girls’ education challenges.
- Extensive experience in designing ICT based SRH information platforms and project management in the area of SRH.
- Demonstrate good working relationship with the line ministries in particular MoHCDGEC
- Previous experience with UN as an added advantage
Minimum content of proposals
Proposals should be submitted in English and containing a minimum of the following components:
- Background and justification
- Overall and specific objectives
- Theory of change
- Outputs
- Detailed Implementation approach of the activities
- Work plan and output/activity based budget
Application Process
Interested applicants shall submit an application file comprising of the following documents;
- A technical proposal of not more than 10 pages including methodology/ approach and work plan for executing the assignment.
- Budget /Financial proposal
