The French Embassy in Haiti is launching a call for projects to fund Haitian civil society organizations working to promote women’s social and economic rights.
The French Embassy in Haiti has long partnered with local stakeholders to encourage and support initiatives that are led by communities themselves. With a strong belief that civil society is a crucial driver of change, the Embassy invests in projects that not only improve daily life but also strengthen the capacity of Haitian organizations to act as levers for social and economic transformation.
For the 2025–2026 edition of the Embassy’s Support Fund for Civil Society Organizations (FEF), the focus is firmly on reducing gender inequality in Haiti. The program aims to empower women’s organizations and human rights actors to design and implement innovative micro-projects, build institutional capacities, and amplify their influence in a complex social and political environment.
This call for projects reflects a broader commitment to equality and social justice. It supports the National Policy for Gender Equality 2024–2034 in Haiti, which seeks to ensure women’s rights and participation across all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life. It also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 5 and 16, which emphasize gender equality, inclusion, and accountable institutions, while aligning with France’s feminist diplomacy agenda promoting women’s empowerment and rights worldwide.
The scope of the call highlights the promotion of women’s rights and empowerment, particularly in defending their civic, social, and economic roles and strengthening their participation in the fight against climate change. Applicants are invited to develop proposals that fall under two main themes: advocacy and defense of women’s rights, and women’s empowerment linked with climate resilience.
Funding is tailored to different levels of organizational capacity. Smaller local civil society organizations can apply for grants ranging from €10,000 to €20,000, while more structured and experienced organizations may receive up to €45,000. The duration of projects should be a minimum of 12 months and may extend to a maximum of 14 months.
The call is primarily directed toward women’s organizations within Haitian civil society. However, any civil society actor committed to advancing human rights, including social enterprises operating on a limited-profit basis, is also eligible to apply. By opening its scope in this way, the program ensures a diverse range of actors can contribute to advancing gender equality and supporting women’s role as agents of change.
Through this initiative, the French Embassy in Haiti reaffirms its commitment to strengthening civil society as a foundation for long-term social progress, while promoting women’s rights, inclusion, and resilience in the face of ongoing challenges.
