Deadline: 15-Aug-2025
Initiatives led by refugees, forcibly displaced individuals, and their allies are invited to submit proposals to host sessions at R-Space, an independent, refugee-led convening. This event will run in parallel to the GRF Progress Review 2025, formerly known as the High-Level Officials Meeting, taking place in Geneva this December.
R-Space serves as a platform for refugee-led organizations and their allies—such as civil society actors, states, academic institutions, and donors—to engage in meaningful discussions. It aims to amplify solutions centered on impacted communities and shape global conversations related to the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR).
Proposed sessions should address key issues such as the global cut in humanitarian funding and its impact, particularly in the context of increasing anti-refugee sentiment. Proposals may also explore how refugee participation improves programming and policy, identify mechanisms to strengthen participation, and assess how refugee-led efforts align with the GCR’s thematic priorities. Reflection on the progress of pledges made during the 2023 GRF is also encouraged.
Priority will be given to proposals submitted by Refugee-Led Initiatives (RLIs)—organizations, networks, projects, or efforts founded and primarily managed by refugees or forcibly displaced individuals. These proposals can be submitted independently or in partnership with other organizations.
Non-refugee-led organizations can apply only in collaboration with RLIs. Strong emphasis is placed on partnerships that show a clear commitment to refugee leadership, power-sharing, and equitable collaboration. Eligible partners include civil society organizations, NGOs, academic institutions, think tanks, foundations, donors, multi-stakeholder initiatives, and states.
The R-Space Steering Committee will evaluate proposals based on how well they align with R-Space themes and the GRF Progress Review 2025, the level of refugee leadership involved, the clarity of the session’s objectives and content, and the feasibility of organizing and delivering the session.
