Deadline: 13-Dec-2025
The Queensland Government has opened through the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland (CMQ) program, offering funding for vibrant multicultural events across Queensland.
The program is designed to support public gatherings—such as festivals, inter‑cultural sporting events or community celebrations—that bring together culturally and linguistically diverse communities including migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and Australian South Sea Islander peoples, in a shared effort to build a more inclusive, connected and harmonious Queensland.
The CMQ program operates on an outcomes‑based model, meaning that applicants are encouraged to think beyond simply hosting an event, and focus on measurable impacts such as increasing intercultural understanding, boosting a sense of belonging for diverse people, and strengthening connections across cultural groups. Events funded under this initiative aim to improve appreciation of cultural diversity, increase understanding of emerging new communities and promote inclusive engagement for individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
To be eligible, applicants must be a legally registered not‑for‑profit/charitable organisation, a local government body, a state school Parent & Citizens Association or a recognised charitable institution. Applicants need an Australian Business Number (ABN), must be based in Queensland (or have an ongoing presence and programs there) and must not have any overdue service or funding reports with the administering authority. If an organisation does not hold these credentials, it can collaborate with an eligible organisation to “auspice” the application.
For those planning events, the funding round is open now for events scheduled between 1 July and 31 December 2026, with grants available up to $20,000. Applicants are urged to thoroughly review the funding guidelines, prepare realistic budgets, define clear outcomes and measurement strategies, All successful events become part of the official events calendar, gaining added exposure and recognition.
This call offers a timely chance for community groups, cultural associations and local event organisers to bring people from all walks of life together, celebrate diversity and strengthen unity in Queensland. If you are designing an event that showcases culture, promotes intercultural connection and invites broad community participation, this program could provide the financial boost to help your vision take shape.
