Deadline: 31-Jan-2026
The Continental Reinsurance Plc is pleased to announce the 11th edition of the Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards (2026) — Africa’s leading platform celebrating excellence in insurance, risk, and resilience reporting.
The Awards honour journalists who are shaping conversations around insurance and reinsurance across the continent. The 2026 Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards are now open for entries, inviting journalists from print, online, broadcast, and social media platforms who have published work in English, French, or Arabic.
The 2026 award categories include Best Re/Insurance Print Entry (English), Best Re/Insurance Online Entry (English), Best Re/Insurance Broadcast (TV/Radio) Entry (English), Best Re/Insurance French Entry (Print, Broadcast, or Online), Best Re/Insurance Arabic Entry (Print, Broadcast, or Online), and Best Re/Insurance Social Media Entry across English, French, and Arabic. The Dr Femi Oyetunji Future Talent Award will also be featured but is not open for entries this year.
A new addition this year is the Best Re/Insurance Social Media Entry, created to honour digital creators who use social media to make insurance stories more engaging and accessible. Award recipients will be recognised during the official ceremony, which coincides with a major industry event.
Winners will receive complimentary invitations, while Continental Re will cover travel and accommodation expenses. Their names and photos will be featured in the company’s publications and online platforms, celebrating their achievements. Recipients are also encouraged to use their award titles to support their professional growth.
An international judging panel of industry experts and journalism academics will review all submissions. Entries will be evaluated based on their quality of information and how effectively they enhance public understanding of the benefits that insurance and reinsurance provide to individuals, communities, and societies.
To participate, journalists must submit a published entry in print, online, or broadcast format within the 12 months leading up to the submission deadline. Each participant may enter only one piece per category, and entrants must be based in an African country.
The submission deadline is 31 January 2026, and the Awards Ceremony will take place in April 2026 at a venue yet to be announced. Applicants must include their name, media organisation, date of publication or broadcast, a brief professional profile (50–100 words), and a photo.
