The Cyber Security Personality of the Year award recognizes and celebrates the achievements and amazing endeavors of Belgium-based cyber security experts and enthusiasts working to improve the country’s cyber security posture. The award is organized by the Belgian Cyber Security Coalition.
The public announcement and the handing over of the award to the chosen candidate will take place during a formal ceremony organized by the Coalition. The award acknowledges the achievements made by the chosen Cyber Personality over the past year to promote and improve cyber security in Belgium.
The award ceremony will be held on October 7, 2022 in the Brussels-based offices of the VBO-FEB. It will also be livestreamed.
Focus Areas
Have you made a contribution in at least one of the following areas:
- Contribution to cyber resilience of the Belgian economy:
- Technological or procedural contributions you have made to increase cyber resilience in the Belgian economy.
- Initiatives or projects that have sustainably improved cyber security for individuals, businesses or public administrations.
- Impact of your activities and, where possible, their quantified outcomes.
- Contribution to awareness of the public:
- Your strategic vision in terms of raising the general public’s cyber security awareness.
- How have your initiatives or strategic involvement either helped raise awareness among the public or helped promote best practices to specific audiences or to the public.
- Impact of your activities and, where possible, their quantified outcomes.
- Contribution to the skills and diversity gap:
- How has your strategic vision sustainably reduced the skills and/or diversity gap.
- Initiatives or strategic involvements that have helped reduce the skills and/or diversity gap.
- Impact of your activities and, where possible, their quantified outcomes.
- Contribution to academia and research:
- Your strategic vision in terms of raising the state-of-the-art in the cyber security field.
- Involvement in industrial valorization activities (ie technology transfer, R&D, patents, etc.) and/or in scientific valorization activities (ie papers, conferences, workshops, etc.)
- Involvement in executive and academic education activities.
- Achievements in current professional role as cyber security professional:
- Impacting or contributing to the strategic vision of your organization in the information security domain.
- Initiatives or projects you have undertaken in the past 24 months to increase your organization’s cyber resilience.
- Impact of your activities and, where possible, their quantified outcomes.
- Raising the awareness of information security among C-level executives and the board
- Raising the awareness of information security among employees.

Eligibility Criteria
- The application process is open to all cyber security enthusiasts and professionals.
- Individuals can be from the public, private or academic sectors and must be based in Belgium.
- Individuals must have contributed to the country’s information security industry, shown tremendous professional growth and achievement, and promoted strong and innovative security practices in the last 12 months.
