The Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund is now open to support digitally excluded people through innovative projects that aim to build evidence, share best practices, and scale effective digital inclusion interventions.
The fund aims to support innovative interventions to produce new knowledge on ‘what works’, building the evidence base on effective digital inclusion interventions, best practice with the ambition to scale and replicate successful activities across England to increase digital participation. Funding is available for projects aligning with the focus areas in the Digital Inclusion Action Plan, including improving digital skills, improving access to digital services, improving data and device poverty, and improving confidence in the use of digital services. Applicants are also encouraged to consider community engagement, financial services, employment, education and skills including media literacy, safety and security, and health and wellbeing.
Grants ranging from £25,000 to £500,000 are available, enabling projects of different sizes to deliver meaningful impact. This support is directed toward diverse initiatives addressing digital exclusion and promoting practical and innovative solutions.
Eligible applicants include local authorities, combined authorities, charities, research organisations, and consortiums with a lead organisation that is a combined authority, local authority, charity, or research organisation. Funding is specifically designed for activities that directly address digital exclusion while aligning with the set focus areas.
The fund provides a unique opportunity to test and expand interventions that can significantly enhance digital participation, improve community outcomes, and empower individuals through technology. With its broad focus areas, the fund encourages a wide range of project ideas that target the key challenges faced by digitally excluded communities.
