Nominations are now open for the Women In Tech Awards, it is a unique opportunity to highlight and recognise the ongoing contribution of women to the tech sector.
Midlands Women In Tech Awards are hugely important and promote a gender balanced workforce across the tech sector. They want to support and acknowledge women in tech by highlighting and recognising great achievements by women in tech today.
They want to ensure an ongoing involvement and engagement of women in the tech industries.The aim of the awards is to raise the visibility of women in this space and enable the next generation to “see it and therefore aspire to it”.
Currently just 17% of those working in technology in the UK are female and according to a recent study by PwC only 3% of young women have technology as their first career choice.
Categories
- Start-up Founder award: This is awarded to a female founder of a tech startup business that has growth potential.
- Apprentice award: This is awarded to a woman who is excelling in her early technology career. The award is open to both women working in a technology company and in a tech role in a non-tech company.
- Rising Star award: This is awarded to a woman who has been in her technology career for 3 years or less and who is excelling in her technology career, making a valuable contribution to her organisation.
- Academic award: This is awarded to a woman in academia who has made an outstanding contribution to technology and whose work has made or has the potential to make a significant long-term impact. This could include using technology to enhance and support research and teaching, achieving technological breakthroughs or leveraging one’s position to significantly encourage more talent into tech.
- Tech for Good award: Recognises organisations or individuals who use tech to improve the lives of others and make the world a better place.
- Innovator award: This is awarded to a woman designing, developing, researching, implementing or being exceptionally creative with technology in an unconventional and innovative way. Whether running her own business or within a tech company or organisation.
- Best Digital lead award: This award is open to a woman operating in a senior technology role within her organisation. She will be making a notable contrioubution.
- Shining star award: This is awarded to a woman working for five years or more in technology who is excelling in her career and making a valuable contribution to her organisation or business.
- Hall of Fame award: The Hall of Fame has been created to recognise, honour, and promote the outstanding contribution that a woman from the Midlands has made to the technological community. This award is selected by the Midlands Women In Tech Panel.
Award Ceremony
- The Award winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony in Birmingham.
Shortlisting & Judging
- A panel of seven independent judges will assess the applications of the nominees for each respective category. A voting process will also be implemented at the shortlist stage.
