The Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship Program provides support to mid-career professionals from India with demonstrable leadership potential in cyber security or cyber policy.
The programme addresses cyber threats through an exploration of the evolving threat landscape, national security implications, internet governance, and the protection of critical infrastructure. It also focuses on the economics of online business, highlighting consumer awareness and protection, challenges in technology adoption, the role of open source, and the effective use of technology by consumers. In addition, it provides a deep understanding of cybercrime and internet law, examining economic impacts, domestic and international responses, law enforcement practices, privacy concerns, misuse of social media, and the importance of accountability in the online space.
The fellowship runs for a duration of 10 weeks, beginning in March and ending in May. It is designed for professionals who are ready to strengthen India’s digital resilience, lead critical conversations on cyber policy, and play a role in shaping secure and inclusive cyber ecosystems. The fellowship provides comprehensive funding and benefits, which include full programme fees, living expenses for the duration of the fellowship, and return economy airfare.
To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of fellowship-eligible countries, demonstrate the potential to rise to a position of leadership and influence, and possess personal, intellectual, and interpersonal attributes reflecting this potential. Candidates must return to their country of citizenship at the end of the fellowship, not hold British or dual British citizenship, and must not have received UK Government scholarship funding within the last five years. Applicants must also not be employees, former employees, or relatives of employees of His Majesty’s Government or affiliated organisations as outlined in the fellowship guidelines.
