Deadline: 04-Sep-2025
The U.S. Embassy in Manama has opened a call for proposals to support research collaboration and innovation under the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), uniting institutions across Bahrain, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Supply chain resilience and infrastructure, regional economic integration, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), means of promoting secure networks, communications systems, software, and hardware, and development and promotion of a more secure, resilient, diverse, competitive, transparent, and sustainable digital and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure supply chain, particularly in global communications.
This funding opportunity aims to create enduring research partnerships between academic institutions and private industry in the C-SIPA countries. Selected projects will support joint innovation and development efforts that strengthen technological ecosystems aligned with the agreement’s science, technology, and network security pillar.
The initiative encourages projects that lead to concrete outcomes such as joint publications, memoranda of understanding for sustained research, or future collaborations. Successful proposals should demonstrate direct collaboration with U.S. private sector partners and involve participants from all three countries.
Awards will range from $10,000 to $60,000, with a total available funding pool of $120,000. Projects must be completed within 18 months, starting from October 1, 2025.
Budgets may support staffing, virtual meetings, and travel between partner institutions. However, equipment purchases are not eligible for funding. Applicants must also plan for public affairs engagement and coordinate media activities with the Embassy.
Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, think tanks, civil society groups, and public or private educational institutions based in the United States, Bahrain, or the United Kingdom. Cost-sharing is not mandatory but is encouraged and will positively influence application evaluation.
