Deadline: 5 January 2026
The Call for Micro-Initiatives (CMI) has opened its Call for Projects in the Mediterranean Islands, offering a valuable opportunity for organisations and institutions to access financial support for impactful environmental initiatives.
The programme provides funding of up to €15,000, covering a maximum of 70% of the total project cost, allowing stakeholders to implement projects that address pressing challenges related to plastic waste and environmental sustainability.
Eligible stakeholders for this call include NGOs, local authorities, municipalities, small companies with fewer than 20 employees, and scientific institutions. Projects can be proposed from a broad range of Mediterranean countries, including Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Croatia, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Montenegro, Slovenia, Tunisia, and Turkey. Priority is given to initiatives originating from Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Montenegro, Tunisia, and Turkey.
The call welcomes projects addressing a variety of themes, including raising awareness and disseminating information about plastic pollution, advocacy work, researching and collecting data, and mobilising stakeholders for coordinated action. Initiatives that focus on reusing and finding alternatives to plastic or improving plastic waste collection and management systems are also encouraged.
This funding opportunity offers a platform for local organisations and institutions to develop innovative and practical solutions to environmental challenges in the Mediterranean region. By supporting projects that combine community engagement, research, and sustainable practices, the CMI aims to foster long-term positive impact on both local communities and the broader ecosystem.
