Deadline: 28-Nov-2025
The Accountability Lab East and Southern Africa (ALESA) has launched two thematic incubators, the Digital Governance Incubator (DGI) and the Climate Justice Incubator (CJI) to train, mentor and support a new generation of young civic leaders advancing accountability through technology and climate action.
The Digital Governance Incubator aims to empower young innovators developing technology-driven solutions that promote transparency, citizen participation, and efficient governance while ensuring digital inclusion and equity.
The Climate Justice Incubator supports youth-led initiatives that address climate inequities through innovation, community resilience, storytelling, policy transformation, and intersectional approaches linking climate action with justice, gender, and culture.
The Digital Governance Incubator is open to young changemakers aged 18 to 35 from Malawi, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe who are passionate about using digital tools to foster good governance, citizen participation, and accountability.
It aims to support those who are reimagining civic leadership in the digital era, understanding that digital governance goes beyond coding to connect people, power, and purpose. Over twelve action-packed months, selected participants will join a regional network of “Accountapreneurs,” working collaboratively to build accountability in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The Climate Justice Incubator, on the other hand, targets young civic leaders aged 18 to 30 from Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe who are committed to driving fair and inclusive climate action.
ALESA recognizes that the climate crisis is about fairness, voice, and power, and through this year-long program, participants will gain mentorship, training, and hands-on support to transform their ideas into tangible community impact.
Graduates will have implemented justice-centered projects, strengthened their leadership and innovation skills, reached thousands through storytelling, and built enduring partnerships within a regional network of “Climatepreneurs.”
Both incubators are rooted in the legacy of Accountability Lab’s flagship Accountability Incubator and emphasize inclusivity, encouraging women, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups to apply. The application deadline is 11:59 PM EAT on 28 November 2025.
