Deadline: 23 November 2025
The Think-tank GLOBSEC has launched a funding initiative to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of independent media outlets in Moldova, with a particular focus on regions where access to reliable information is most at risk.
The program aims to support media organizations that provide trustworthy, balanced reporting and play a vital role in countering disinformation and promoting informed civic engagement. It is especially intended for outlets serving vulnerable audiences, including those in Gagauzia and other regions where independent news sources are limited or under pressure.
This funding opportunity is designed to help media outlets enhance their operational capacity, expand content production, strengthen audience engagement, and improve financial sustainability. The support also encourages the development of innovative business models, collaborative journalism networks, and strategies to maintain editorial independence in challenging media environments. Recipients will be expected to demonstrate commitment to professional ethics and the ability to produce high-quality, public-interest journalism.
Financial support ranges from a minimum of EUR 5,000 to a maximum of EUR 40,000 per outlet, allowing both small and mid-sized media organizations to apply according to their scale, needs, and project objectives. The funding may be used to support content creation, newsroom development, community outreach, technology upgrades, audience research, or other activities that strengthen a media outlet’s presence and impact.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered media organizations in Moldova with at least three years of continuous operation. They must demonstrate editorial independence, with no affiliations to political parties, government bodies, or foreign state-controlled interests. A minimum audience reach of 50,000 people per month is required, which may be verified through readership data, website statistics, or social media analytics. In addition, applicants must show a clear commitment to professional journalistic standards and EU democratic values.
This call represents an important opportunity for Moldovan media to reinforce their role as trusted sources of information and to remain resilient in an evolving and often challenging media landscape. By supporting independent journalism, the program contributes to a more informed public, stronger democratic participation, and a healthier information environment across the country.
