Deadline: 31-Dec-2025
The Western Balkans Fund is offering an important opportunity through its Matching Grants scheme, designed to help civil society organisations expand their local initiatives into regional and international collaborations.
By supporting projects that encourage cooperation, dialogue, and understanding across the Western Balkans, the program strengthens ties and nurtures innovation throughout the region.
Through this scheme, organisations can receive up to €10,000, which will cover half of the eligible costs, with the remainder funded by other sources. The grants are flexible, allowing projects to be implemented across the WB6 countries—Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia—within a timeframe of two to four months.
One of the program’s unique aspects is its open-call approach. There is no strict deadline, so applications can be submitted whenever organisations are ready. This provides greater freedom for groups to align funding with their project needs. The approval process is also efficient, with decisions usually provided within three weeks, enabling projects to move forward without delay.
Eligible applicants include legal, non-profit entities such as NGOs, civil society organisations, educational institutions, cultural or sports groups, media organisations, and business associations. To ensure regional impact, proposals must include at least two partners from different Western Balkans countries. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate prior experience in managing donor-funded or regional projects, along with secured co-funding.
The Matching Grants program is not only a funding opportunity but also a platform to foster collaboration. From cultural exchanges to education programs, training workshops, and sustainability initiatives, the scheme provides the means to scale up ideas and create a broader, long-lasting impact.
By joining this program, organisations have the chance to turn their vision into tangible outcomes while becoming part of a wider effort to strengthen regional cooperation and community connections across the Western Balkans.
