The Maroondah City Council is pleased to announce applications for Community Grants Funding Program.
The funding program offers three annual grants schemes to incorporated, not-for-profit community groups on an annual basis:
- The Community Development Grants Scheme
- The Emergency Relief Grants Scheme
- The Small Equipment Grants Scheme.
Program Objectives
- The Community Development Grants Scheme
- To encourage increased participation in a wide range of activities and services within the municipality aimed at enhancing community inclusion and wellbeing.
- To build and strengthen local networks within the Maroondah community.
- To encourage community partnerships that facilitates the effective use of community resources and encourages the sustainability of services and programs.
- The Emergency Relief Grants Scheme
- To assist people to deal with their immediate crisis situation.
- To maintain the dignity of the individual and families to whom services are offered and promote social inclusion.
- To offer people referral to other sources of support and assistance (e.g. mental health, crisis housing, drug and alcohol and financial counseling) if requested.
- To encourage self-reliance and skill development.
Funding Information
- Community Development Grants Scheme: This scheme offers assistance up to $5,000 to incorporated, not for profit groups to develop programs, projects and events that enhance community wellbeing and increase participation. This scheme also offers assistance to not-for-profit incorporated organizations with a focus on community recovery arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Emergency Relief Grant Scheme: This scheme offers assistance up to $7,000 to incorporated, not for profit groups to develop and deliver programs and resources to assist vulnerable people and those at risk of, or experiencing homelessness.
- Small Equipment Grants Scheme: This scheme is for requests of $750 or less to cover small equipment purchases, printing or administration costs to incorporate not for profit community support groups only.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an incorporated community organization/group with not-for-profit status. If not incorporated, an application must be auspiced by an eligible not-for-profit incorporated organization.
- Must be located within, or servicing, the Maroondah community.
- Must maintain Public Liability Insurance Cover ($20 million minimum) or be auspiced by an eligible organization with this level of public liability insurance cover.
- Schools and hospitals are eligible to apply if they partner with another eligible community organization and can demonstrate that the project is outside of their core business.
- The following are not eligible
- Organizations that have a multi-year funding and service agreement with Council.
- New building projects, capital works requests or facility maintenance projects.
- Funding to individuals.
- Projects which do not demonstrate wider community benefit enhance community wellbeing or increase access and inclusion.
- Multiple applications.
- Applications from an organization with an outstanding grant acquittal with one of the following grant schemes:
- Community Development Grants Scheme
- Small Equipment Grants Scheme
- Emergency Relief Grants Scheme
- COVID-19 Community Wellbeing Grants Scheme
- COVID-19 Emergency Relief Grants Scheme.
