In continued support for the civil society of Belarus, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a grant project competition “Development Cooperation Projects to Support Civil Society in Belarus”.
The competition is intended for rendering immediate assistance to persons who have been affected by the violence of Belarusian authorities and restrictions placed on freedoms, as well as providing support for the development of civil society, promotion of democratic participation and strengthening of media freedom.
Objectives
- To provide maximum support for the sustainable development of the EU Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries using instruments of the bilateral development cooperation funding managed by the MoFA;
- To strengthen the implementation of the development cooperation priorities of Latvia within the scope of multilateral cooperation, particularly within the scope of the EU, UN, World Bank group, and OECD, thus promoting the coherence of the development cooperation policy of Latvia in all formats;
- To strengthen the competence, coordination and sustainable activities of the developers and implementers of the development cooperation policy of Latvia;
- To strengthen the transparency of the development cooperation of Latvia and its conformity with the international reporting standards;
- To raise the public awareness of the importance of development cooperation, participation, and support for the implementation of the policy;
- To implement a comprehensive and coordinated approach of Latvia for the support of sustainable development of partner countries.
Funding Information
- The total funding made available for the projects is EUR 120,000 EUR. One development cooperation grant project can receive from 15,000 to 40,000 EUR in funding.
Associations and foundations registered in the Republic of Latvia are welcome to apply for participation in the competition.
