The ACT Government is pleased to announce the opening of the 2022 ACT Reconciliation Day Grants Program.
The inaugural ACT Reconciliation Day initiative: Reconciliation in the Park was held on Monday 28 May 2018, at Glebe Park in the City.
The Program provides funding to support individuals and organisations to hold meaningful initiatives in the lead-up to, during, or in support of the Reconciliation Day Public Holiday on 30 May 2022.
Aims
The 2022 ACT Reconciliation Day Grants Program (the Program) aims to support community organised events, which are held by individuals or organisations, with a strong focus on Reconciliation, specifically:
- Promoting understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in the wider community;
- Celebrating and raising the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in the wider community;
- Promoting understanding of, and the impact on, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of past policies and historical events;
- Delivering opportunities for children, young people, and elders to be involved and participate in community events that promote Reconciliation; and
- Developing seminars and/or panel discussions on the importance of Reconciliation for all Australians.
Funding Information
- Total funding of $50,000.00 (GST exclusive) is available for the Program.
- Individuals or organisations can apply for a Reconciliation Day Grant for an amount up to $5,000.00 (GST exclusive).
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility for an Individual
- To be eligible for the Program, individuals must meet the following requirements:
- Reside in the ACT or surrounding Canberra region including Wreck Bay (proof of ACT or surrounding Canberra Region residency must be attached with application) the event must take place in the ACT;
- Have not received funding from another source for the same activity in 2022; and
- Have no overdue reporting obligations for any previous Community Services Directorate grant including evaluations, acquittal reports and audited financial statements.
- To be eligible for the Program, individuals must meet the following requirements:
- Please note: Lack of clarification and supporting evidence may deem your application ineligible. Only one (1) application per individual is allowed. Individuals that are applying for a Reconciliation Day grant must be 18 years or older. Individuals that are not 18 or older, must have a Parent or Guardian submit an application on their behalf.
- Eligibility for an Organisation
- To be eligible for the Program, organisations must meet the following requirements:
- Be a non-government, incorporated entity that is not-for-profit (an organisation that is not an incorporated entity, must be auspiced by a not-for-profit incorporated entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN) and/or Indigenous Incorporation Number (ICN);
- Provide an initiative in the ACT, for the benefit of ACT residents;
- Have a current public liability insurance policy with a cover of a minimum of $10 million; and
- Have no overdue reporting obligations for any previous Community Services Directorate grant including evaluations, acquittal reports and audited financial statements.
- To be eligible for the Program, organisations must meet the following requirements:
- Please note: If you do not comply with the eligibility requirements, your application will not be assessed for funding. Only one (1) application per eligible organisation is allowed.
Exclusions
Funding will exclude (but not limited to):
- Projects that do not contribute to the aim of the Program;
- Ongoing/recurrent funding;
- Projects where alternative sources of funding are more appropriate;
- Projects that are a duplication of an existing service, program, project or event;
- Retrospective costs — projects or purchases which have already taken place;
- Salaries where the salary form part of the organisations/individual usual responsibility;
- Recurrent operating or maintenance costs for day-to-day operations of the organisation;
- Prize money; and
- Projects which are deemed to be inappropriate and offensive.
