Applications are open for Pitch AgriHack, a new component of the AgriHack Talent program of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA). This first edition (pilot) is implemented in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the support of partners such as CABI DevLab, mLab East Africa, etc.
The ultimate objectives are to help develop business services offered by young e-agriculture start-ups as well as to contribute to accelerating the adoption of innovations for stronger productivity by the agrifood sector in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.
Program Details
- a training session (bootcamp) that will strengthen capacity of the young entrepreneurs
- a pitching competition for participating start-ups and entrepreneurs
- opportunities to consolidate, pilot or upscale their platforms and services through grants or additional incubation or acceleration
Funding Information
Winning start-ups will receive from CTA up to Euros 15,000 in cash (grant) to advance their services, apart from investment and capacity building opportunities that may be facilitated by stakeholders involved.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only start-ups with an official existence (with e.g. a trade register) or existing teams and about to complete their administrative formalization, can participate in Pitch AgriHack 2016. Proof the official existence is a prerequisite for physical participation after camp and the rest of the competition in Nairobi.
- The company’s founders (at least one official founder) must be aged 18 to 35 and be citizens and residents of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP). Applications may be submitted in French or English.
- Only startups / teams with functional ICT implementation can participate.
- The winning applications of previous hackathons AgriHack Talent CTA and have already received a grant or a CTA contract (outside the cash award won) is not eligible to be part of this initiative for edition. 2016. Applications that have won a hackathon AgriHack CTA but have not received a subsidy are eligible. Any institution that received a grant for its CTA platform ICT past two years cannot take the competition with the same application.
