The Arts Midwest is inviting applications for its Grow, Invest, Gather (GIG) Fund to provide financial support to arts organizations for rebuilding and re-imagining creative engagement in their communities amidst the challenging uncertainty affecting all corners of the creative sector.
Whether applicants’ organization is recovering, starting a new, or doing their best to hold steady, this flexible support opportunity will help grow by investing in capacity to gather community to experience the power of creative expression together. Funds are intended for organizations to build their capacity by having multiple points of access to support presenting performing and visual artists of high artistic merit, virtually or in-person.

- Grant awards are $2,500.
Project Requirements
- Partner with professional performing or visual artist of high artistic excellence and merit.
- Gather the community via at least two activities featuring the artist(s) in an accessible facility/space.
- For at least one activity, reach an audience with limited access to the arts:
- Historically underrepresented or marginalized people
- Youths (18 or under)
- Older adults (65 or older)
- Veterans and active service members
- Disability
- Adults and youths in the justice system
- Economically disadvantaged
- Geographic location
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be in good standing with Arts Midwest, with no overdue or outstanding required reports and/or grant documents.
- Applicant must comply with federal eligibility requirements.
- Applicant must have an ‘active’ SAM.gov registration and be free from delinquent debt or any active exclusions from receiving federal awards. “Pending” SAM.gov registrations will be accepted at the time of application.
- Applicant must be in the Midwest region of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin and the Federally recognized Native nations that share this geography.
- Applicant must have a non-profit status with the IRS. This opportunity is not open to organizations applying on a fiscal sponsorship basis.
- Agree to acknowledge Arts Midwest and the National Endowment for the Arts in all programs and press materials related to funded engagements.
- Eligible applicants may include performing arts centers located on university or high school campuses, an arts council that contracts with artists for an engagement in a community venue, a traditional theater located in the heart of a community, museums that exhibit arts and culture, or many other types of 501c3 nonprofit arts organizations.
