The Austrian-American Partnership Fund is now open for applications to support collaboration and cultural exchange between Austrian and U.S. non-governmental organizations, universities, professional associations, arts, and cultural organizations.
The goals of the program are to expand the range of educational, cultural, and professional cooperation between Austrians and Americans.
Focus Areas

The Austrian-American Partnership Fund accepts applications for funding for projects in the following areas :
- Global Issues: Fostering dialogue and discussion on issues of mutual concern and interest, such as energy, diversity and inclusion, digital literacy and cybersecurity, trade and economic policy, countering violent extremism, human rights, and transatlantic cooperation, specifically including youth.
- Climate & Environment: Supporting common environmental concerns such as combating climate change, preserving nature and limited natural resources, ensuring water security, reducing harmful environmental pressures, promoting resilience, and combating wildlife trade.
- Entrepreneurship: Promotion of links and sustainable relationships between U.S. and Austrian entrepreneurs as well as individuals and organizations that are committed to entrepreneurial education and skills, especially among youth.
- Arts America: Presentation and presentation of emerging American artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and other cultural workers whose works have not previously been shown in Austria or who have not yet performed in Austria.
- Study of the U.S.: Creation of capacities in the field of U.S. studies abroad and promotion of the Austrian overall understanding of the United States of America.
Funding Information
- Project budgets range from $1,000 to $10,000; for embassy-side grants, the cap is $25,000.
- The most competitive projects usually include significant funding from other sources as a cost-covering portion of the project budget.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Public Affairs Department of the U.S. Embassy in Vienna is looking for projects from Austrian NGOs, universities, professional partners, art and cultural institutions, as well as academics and other professionally qualified individuals.
- They must show interest in working with American colleagues and contact persons, in developing or further expanding exchanges in the areas of education, work, and culture in Austria, and in promoting dialogue and partnerships between people in the United States and Austria.
- They also invite organizations that have not received any sponsorship from the U.S. Embassy to apply to this program.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a proven level of expertise and ability.
