The Vale of White Horse District Council is accepting applications for the Climate Action Fund Programme that help tackle climate change or help restore nature in the district.
These could centre on energy, biodiversity, waste and consumption, or transport and travel. Projects must have a community focus, increase awareness of climate change and recent declines in nature and encourage action.
Funding Information
- You can apply to the Climate Action Fund for grants from £250 to £10,000 per project, with a total of £100,000 available this year.
Duration
- The project must complete within 12 months of the award decision.
What kind of work/services can they fund?
- They will fund projects which take action to:
- Address climate change and avoid or reduce the emission of greenhouse gases (mitigation projects) or,
- Adjust to the current and future effects of climate change (adaptation projects)
- Alongside:
- Engaging and inspiring the local community to protect the planet
- Increasing awareness and knowledge of the climate emergency amongst others
- Demonstrating support from the wider community
- Bringing the community together through shared action
- Working in partnership with other local groups and organisations
Eligibility Criteria
- Projects must take place within Vale of White Horse district for the benefit of Vale residents
- You can apply for capital items and revenue costs (excluding recurring revenue costs)
- They can fund up to 100 per cent of the total cost of a project (budget permitting)
- Who is eligible?
- Town/parish councils and parish meetings
- Town/parish councils can also collaborate with local unconstituted groups and apply on their behalf
- Local ‘not for profit’ organisations, (this can include a company limited by guarantee which does not distribute any surplus it makes to its members), whose primary purpose is to benefit the residents of Vale of White Horse.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following are not eligible to apply:
- Other local authorities/public sector bodies (for example other district councils, NHS trusts). Please note Town/Parish councils and parish meetings are eligible to apply
- Schools, colleges, universities (please note however, eligible organisations can involve school groups and education settings in their projects)
- Groups who raise funds on behalf of or will improve/create facilities that will predominately benefit an ineligible organisation, for example Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs)
- Individuals (this includes making any payments to individuals on behalf of community groups)
