The Mediterranean Women’s Fund is accepting applications to strengthen the women’s movement in all the countries of the Mediterranean basin.
The Mediterranean Women’s Fund purpose is to contribute in a concrete and ambitious way to improving the status of women.
Aims
- The Mediterranean Women’s Fund supports the activities of women working to change the Mediterranean region by:
- funding women’s associations to provide them with the material and human resources to take action;
- strengthening the capacities of young women leaders to enable them to better mobilize their strengths and use their creativity to construct a more just society;
- gathering together organizations to provide them with a space to discuss, unite and act together; and
- speaking up to major institutions to advocate for larger and more accessible grants for women’s associations.
Priorities
- They prioritize groups that:
- began their activity within the past five years;
- do not have access to funding from major donors;
- are in countries that receive little financial assistance;
- are tackling issues that are difficult for women in their communities to raise;
- but which are essential for women’s rights.

- Strengthening networks at the Mediterranean regional level
- Combating violence against women
- Defending sexual and reproductive rights
- Advocacy and action for equal rights
- Awareness raising through art and culture
Eligibility Criteria
- To be considered as a candidate for a grant, your organization must meet all of the following criteria:
- be based in the Mediterranean region: they do not fund groups based outside this region;
- demonstrate a strong commitment to equal rights for women and men and to human rights principles; this commitment must be reflected in your actions and activities;
- be an association or a group; they do not accept requests from individuals;
- be led by women: the majority of the top management must be women.
