The Brimbank City Council is now inviting applications for its Young People’s Ideas Grants to young person or group of young people (aged 12-25 years) who are supported by an auspice Organisation or are part of an incorporated group, to deliver a project, event or program that positively impacts other young people in the Brimbank Community.
For example, projects and activities that are led and initiated by young people such as forums, sporting activities, art exhibition, performances, mentoring and hangouts.
Funding Information
- Young People's Ideas Grants can provide funding up to $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a not-for-profit incorporated organisation.
- Have Public Liability Insurance cover for the duration of the project, unless applying for an Establishment Grant.
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Be based in Brimbank, or demonstrate that the proposed project will substantially benefit Brimbank residents.
- Have satisfactorily acquitted previous grants funded under the Brimbank Council’s Community Grants Program, where applicable.
Assessment Criteria

Applications for these grants are scored on how well they outline and explain the following:

Community Need = 20%
- Does this project/ activity/ event address the needs of young people in the local community?
- What evidence exists to prove the need for the project, such as data, research and consultation/conversations with young people?

Community Benefit = 30%
- What will young people or broader community benefit from this project?
- How will you showcase young people’s achievements and contributions to the community and to other young people?

Young people's involvement = 30%
- How has this young person involved other young people/young people’s lived experience in the development of the idea?
- What roles and activities will young people undertake to develop and deliver this project?

Capacity to Deliver Project = 20%
- Is your organisation or group led by young people?
- Is your organisation experienced in working and connecting with young people?
- Is this activity, project or event, a new concept or idea?
- Are you able to successfully plan, manage and deliver the project?
- Do you have key partners who will support the delivery of this project (e.g. schools, community organisations)?

Access & Inclusion = 10%
- How will the project actively engage and encourage the inclusion of a diverse range of young people such as LGBTQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual), Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, asylum seekers, refugees, young people with disability etc.?
