The County of Alameda announces the Alameda County Arts Relief Program to assist nonprofit arts and cultural organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This program is managed by the Office of the Alameda County Arts Commission under the leadership of Alameda County Auditor-Controller Melissa Wilk and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
Funds Can Be Used to Support:
- Rent/lease/mortgage and utility payments for business facilities
- Payroll (may not be used to meet the same Payrolls an organization is paying for with funds received from the Paycheck Protection Program, but may be used to meet Payrolls after the organization has depleted their Payroll Protection Program funds)
- Operating Expenses such as supplies, materials, insurance, etc.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), sanitation or health safety equipment
- Reimbursement for digital technology equipment required to transition existing programs online – not to support new programs
Funding Information
The Arts Relief Program will award grants between $5,000 – $25,000 to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations.
The grant amounts will be based on the budget size of the most recently completed fiscal year using the following tiers:
- For organizations with budgets up to $499,999, the maximum grant is $5,000
- For organizations with budgets $500,000 – $999,999, the maximum grant amount is $10,000
- For organizations with budgets of $1 million – $1,499,999, the maximum grant amount is $15,000
- For organizations with budgets of $1.5 million – $2.49 million, the maximum grant amount is $20,000
- For organizations with budgets of $2.5 million and above, the maximum grant amount is $25,000.
Eligibility Criteria
The Alameda County nonprofit applicant must prove that they have been affected by COVID-19 in at least one of the following ways:
- Revenues of the nonprofit are down 25% or more compared to the six months prior to March 1, 2020 (September 1, 2019 – February 29, 2020).
- The organization has had to lay off at least one of its employees (full-time or part-time) or had to significantly reduce work conducted by consultants (full-time or part-time).
- The organization was forced to shut down services, events and/or activities due to the state or local government Shelter in Place and COVID-19 requirements.
