Applications are now open for the New Leaders Programme to support new and emerging leaders to grow their skills and build peer support networks leading to strong, sustainable arts communities and organisations.
The programme will be offered once every two years, providing a peer support network and capability building opportunities. It is focused on areas such as the relationship between governance and management, financial literacy, and influencing skills.
Focus Areas
- Training will be offered within a cohort that focuses on capability building in these areas:
- Health and Safety
- Human Resources and managing people
- Working with Boards
- Strategic planning
- Compliance and regulatory reporting
- Financial literacy
- Public speaking and media engagement
What the programme involves?
- The cohort will be up to 25 people.
- The programme will be offered between February and November 2025. They strongly recommend participating in all the sessions for the greatest learning outcomes and to build strong relationships with your peers.
- Please refer to the programme outline below to understand the time commitment required before you apply, noting exact dates will be confirmed with the selected participants.
- a one day in-person/ā-tinana wānanga in Tāmaki Makaurau or Te Whanganui-a-Tara at Creative New Zealand’s offices between mid and late February 2025. This will be a chance to meet each other and hear from various speakers including Creative New Zealand kaimahi
- Seven monthly online sessions from March to November 2025. Each session will be approximately two hours long and held on weekdays during business hours.
- No grants are offered as part of this programme. Participants need to cover their costs to participate in the programme, including their time, travel and accommodation to attend the one day wānanga.
Eligibility Criteria
- This programme is for new and emerging leaders in arts organisations or communities.
- New leaders in organisations in Toi Tōtara Haemata or Toi Uru Kahikatea programmes can apply.
- The programme has been designed for those who have been recently appointed into executive roles or would be able to apply the training during or immediately after the programme.
