Applications are now open for the Health Improvement Grants to expand community health improvement programmes across Southwark in order to support those most affected by COVID-19, by addressing their health and wellbeing.
Southwark Council’s Public Health division have allocated £160,000 of COMF to scale up and expand community health improvement programmes, to support Southwark residents affected by COVID-19. Over the course of the year (October 2021 – October 2022) there will be a particular focus on trying to increase the availability of provision for residents that have been most affected by the pandemic.
Objectives
- To enable 3000 residents access to a health improvement programme
- Ensure that at least 50% of participants are from a Black, Asian or a Minority Ethnic group
- At least 50% of participants improve their level of physical activity and personal wellbeing
- All providers to ensure that participants are informed about the benefits of physical activity and good mental health practices, including understanding the risks to COVID-19. Providers to use Public Health and nationally recognised and recommended sources.
Funding Information
- As a guide, the average grant they are looking to provide per organisation is £15,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants will be awarded to voluntary or community organisations (including registered charities/companies) and not for profit organisations.
- Applications are not eligible from:
- Individuals
- Community Interest Companies with shares (CIC’s)
- Community Interest Companies with guarantee that are less than two years old
- Profit-making organisations.
