Applications are now open for the Food, Research, and Action Center (FRAC) Social Impact and Equity Fund to identify, recognize, and financially support innovative strategies among organizations working to leverage federal nutrition programs such as SNAP, WIC, and school meals to fight hunger and promote equity.
- Strengthen the federal nutrition programs to ensure they provide sufficient and dignified access to nutrition to individuals and families with low incomes.
- Guarantee that program implementation at the federal, state, and local levels maximizes available benefits.
- Support policies and programs that reduce poverty and other root causes of hunger.
- Reduce the racial hunger gap by embedding equity in the federal nutrition assistance programs.
- Build a national commitment in support of just and effective anti-hunger policies.
- Demonstrated commitment to leverage grant for long-term capacity building
- Must be a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and justice
- Preferance for organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $750,000
- Evidence of representative and/or inclusive language in communication
- Commitment to leveraging the federal nutrition programs
- At least 50% of staff are community constituents
- The proposal is intersectional and innovative
- Demonstrated evidence of actions that have helped to improve internal equity within the organization
- Explicit external-facing commitment to social justice and demonstration of a commitment to equity throughout their operations, policy and advocacy efforts, and work with the community
