The Arts Council of Mendocino County is seeking applications for CARES Funding for Arts Orgs of Color.
The California Arts Council, a state agency, was awarded CARES Act relief funds through the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and allocated them to their State-Local Partners, including the Arts Council of Mendocino County.
Purpose
- The purpose of these grants is to aid local arts and culture organizations serving socially vulnerable populations within their communities that are not eligible for the direct CARES Act stimulus grants.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an arts organization physically located in and serving Mendocino County residents / Must be an arts and culture organization physically located and serving the residents of Mendocino County;
- Must be an organized group whose mission is to serve communities of colour, a non-profit organization or have a non-profit fiscal sponsor; / Must be an organized group whose mission is to serve the Latino and Native American communities, a non-profit organization or have a non-profit fiscal sponsor;
- Must have a mission of providing arts programs or cultural services to a community of colour (BIPOC) or have a primary clientele that are people of colour; / Must have a mission to provide arts programs or cultural services to Latino and Native American communities (BIPOC) or have a predominantly Latino clientele;
- An organization must include and represent, at a staff or board level, the communities to be served (at least 50% representation); / The organization must include and represent, at the staff or board level, the communities to be served (at least 50% representation);
- Must provide arts activities, programs and/or services that are culturally relevant and responsive to the identified community or group; / Must provide arts activities, programs and/or services that are culturally relevant and responsive to the identified community or group;
- Must have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 crisis; / Must have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 crisis;
- Must not have received CARES Act re-granting support from another source. / Must not have received the CARES Act that re-grants support from another source.
