The ArtsWestchester is currently inviting proposals for the Mount Vernon Cultural Arts Initiative Grants Program to provide project grants in two categories:
- Organization
- Individual Artist
The Mount Vernon Arts Initiative is designed to help Mount Vernon’s community-based cultural organizations and artists enhance the cultural programs and services they provide to city residents, while also enhancing and improving the neighborhood(s), facilities, and/or city parks where they occur. The grants also help locally-based cultural organizations and artiststo build their capacity and to contribute to the city’s community building and economic development efforts. Mount Vernon Arts Initiative awards are over and above the funding your organization received from ArtsWestchester in the Basic Program Support or Arts Alive categories. The Mount Vernon Arts Initiative awards are made possible with supportfrom Westchester County Board of Legislators and the City of Mount Vernon.
Funding Information
- Organization: An eligible organization may request a maximum award of $5,000 per application.
- Artists: An eligible artist may request a maximum award of $2,500 ($1,000 minimum).
- Projects must take place between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022.
Eligibility Criteria
- The project/activity for which you are requesting support must:

- Take place in the City of Mount Vernon and be focused on the residents of Mount Vernon
- Take place between July 1,2021 — June 30, 2022
- Be a new project/activity not currently supported by another PutsWestchester grant opportunity
- Have a confirmed project location at the time of application
- Organization: To be eligible the organization must:
- Demonstrate 501(c)(3) federal tax exempt status as a private, not for profit organization incorporated in New York State
- Be headquartered inthe City of Mount Vernon
- Have a mission statement that clearly delineates the arts or local history/culture as primary, both in focus and in actual operation (“arts” includes developing skill in or knowledge of a discipline.)
- If a past grant recipient, your organization must be in good standing regarding submission of required reports
- The organization must operate in a way that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
- Artist: To be eligible the artist must:
- Live in Westchester County, or own/rent space in Westchester County at the time of the application and for the duration of the planned project.
- If a past grant recipient, you must be in good standing regarding submission of required reports.
